Play time
Keeping kids happy on holiday. Now, that must be one of the toughest
challenges in history. But never fear; we’ve got it all mapped out. Loads of
our pubs with rooms are in locations brimming with great days out for
youngsters. From sandy-toe beach days to imagination-sparking adventures
and head-spinning rides. Here’s a backpack of boredom-busting ideas for
where to go and what to do with the endless-energy generation.
Kicks on the coast
If there’s a beach on hand, you can’t go wrong;
it’s the natural playground that kids go giddy for.
Luckily, our Devon, Dorset and Somerset pubs
are sweetly placed for seaside breaks. The Canford
in Poole gives you two Blue Flag beaches just
a few minutes away. And if learning to surf or
being let loose in gorgeous National parks grabs
them, The Seagate in Appledore is a thumbs-up
winner. Yet more miles of golden sands can be
found shimmering near Dunstan House Inn in
Burnham-On-Sea, where the famous caves
of Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge offer
exploration of the subterranean kind.
Theme park thrills
Our two pubs with rooms in Surrey, The Bridge
and The Crown, are so close to three of the UK’s
most action-stacked theme parks that you can
almost hear the screams. Thorpe Park is a thrillfans paradise with over 30 rides to scare your
pants off, including Hyperia, the UK’s tallest and
fastest rollercoaster (eek). Legoland Windsor
offers a mega family day out, where your eyes
will pop at the epic Lego-themed attractions
and experiences (try counting the bricks). Lastly,
but equally awesome, is Chessington World of
Adventures, Britain’s biggest wildlife theme park,
with a zoo, aquarium, and up-close-and-personal
animal safaris to entertain your little monkeys.
Big-city activities
London is a fun-time town for all ages. And we’ve
got a great bunch of pubs for overnight stays
in the capital, all well connected to countless
exciting (and educational) attractions for kids.
The timeless classics, like London Zoo and
the Science Museum, are get-lost-in-for-hours
wonderlands. SEA LIFE London Aquarium boasts
a host of marine miracles, such as the magical
Seahorse Kingdom and nerve-jangling Shark Walk.
And for outdoor adventures, head to the enormous
Children’s Garden adventure-scape at Kew Gardens.

inspiration, including pointers on where to stay.)
