Jayelan has been involved with YDAN since 2021.
He has had lots of input in shaping the DEP SelfAdvocacy Training for Young People by attending the
redevelopment co-designs and the training itself.
Jayelan’s advocacy work extends far beyond YDAN.
He has shared his story growing up disabled with
Autism and Body Apraxia, presenting at many
Australian universities, other places of education,
symposiums and state conferences. In 2023 he also
presented at the Sabah Autism Society in Malaysia.
In 2018, Jayelan received the Lions Children of
Courage Award and in 2021, he had his first piece of
writing published by Carer’s WA called,
