A Letter to You
To my treasured readers,
I am so excited to welcome you to the first edition of the
8Disabled Enough?9 magazine! After the journey of
creating this mag, I find myself humbled by the artistry and
unity of the disabled community here in Boorloo. I would
like to thank all those that have contributed to make this
magazine what it has become.
I chose the name 8Disabled Enough?9 because this is a
question that young people with disability face a lot: Am I
disabled enough to be here? To apply for this service? To
get support? Even if this question isn9t directly asked, it
can be a feeling caused by others that you are not
disabled enough. This magazine is about self-advocacy
and having to justify your disabled experience to services,
non-disabled people, and sometimes yourself, just to be
understood and get your needs met.
As you read 8Disabled Enough?9, I hope you feel
understood or at least less alone in your experiences.
