VIETNAM
Established 2004
WWO Vietnam con琀椀nues to support disadvantaged children
across various age groups and backgrounds. The increase
in program bene昀椀ciaries of 22% over last year, re昀氀ects the
organiza琀椀on’s dedica琀椀on and e昀昀ec琀椀veness in reaching those
in need.
In December of 2023, the closure of the HSBC-funded project
for children who lost their parents to COVID-19 was a signi昀椀cant
milestone. Despite the project’s origins during a 琀椀me of crisis,
its focus on long-term recovery, perseverance, and resilience
demonstrates a forward-looking approach to addressing the profound
e昀昀ects of the pandemic on vulnerable popula琀椀ons. The expansion of the
project to accommodate more bene昀椀ciaries than ini琀椀ally planned highlights the
cri琀椀cal need for such support and the e昀昀ec琀椀veness of the interven琀椀ons provided.
The ini琀椀a琀椀ve of 106 volunteers to organize pop-up Element of Play® sessions for 500
children in remote areas like the mountains of Phu Yen is noteworthy. By bringing
inten琀椀onal, trauma-informed, play-based programming to these hard-to-reach
rural communi琀椀es, WWO Vietnam is not only providing essen琀椀al developmental
opportuni琀椀es but also laying the groundwork for improved educa琀椀onal outcomes.

In a signi昀椀cant stride towards promo琀椀ng child development, WWO Vietnam has
successfully expanded its Element of Play® program, impac琀椀ng over 1,300 children
across four ci琀椀es in Vietnam. The program underwent standardiza琀椀on of curriculum
and diversi昀椀ca琀椀on of formats, ensuring tailored learning experiences for children with
varying developmental needs. Moreover, in 2023, we extended access to structured
play for underprivileged children in communi琀椀es, enabling them to bene昀椀t from
educa琀椀onal opportuni琀椀es they might otherwise not have access to. Addi琀椀onally,
WWO Vietnam conducted comprehensive training sessions for 305 educa琀椀on sta昀昀,
teachers, parents, and community members, equipping them with the necessary skills
to e昀昀ec琀椀vely support WWO’s Learning Through Play approach.
