ETHIOPIA
Established 2005
WWO Ethiopia is spearheading the transforma琀椀on of the
country’s educa琀椀onal landscape, challenging the outdated
model of strict discipline and corporal punishment in schools.
Recognizing that trauma, fear, and developmental delays pose
signi昀椀cant barriers to learning, WWO is pioneering safe spaces
for experien琀椀al learning, where children can thrive.
Understanding the pivotal role of joyful engagement in
educa琀椀on, WWO has embarked on a mission to shi昀琀 the culture
of learning, one classroom at a 琀椀me. By replacing rote memoriza琀椀on
with play-based learning, WWO is nurturing a love for learning among
Ethiopia’s youth.
When the Ethiopian Ministry of Educa琀椀on embraced a policy to ensure universal access
to public preschool educa琀椀on, WWO was invited to train teachers in our innova琀椀ve
“Learning Through Play” methodology. This approach fosters trust, engagement, and
ac琀椀ve par琀椀cipa琀椀on, laying a solid founda琀椀on for children’s educa琀椀onal journey.
