CAMP EXPERIENCES
In partnership with SeriousFun Children’s
Network (SeriousFun), WWO provides
camp experiences for children living
with serious illness and their families in
Ethiopia, Hai琀椀, and Vietnam. Children living
with illnesses face di昀케cult emo琀椀onal and social challenges, including higher rates of
anxiety and depression. They must learn life skills to help manage their illness, stay
as healthy as possible, and cope with future obstacles that may arise.
We provide opportuni琀椀es for children to access residen琀椀al camp (4-5 days away from home), day camp and
family weekend ac琀椀vi琀椀es that provide deep and meaningful impact, increased knowledge, and create strong
and las琀椀ng bonds with peers who face similar struggles.
A recent evalua琀椀on, in partnership with SeriousFun and the Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State
University, exploring residen琀椀al camp outcomes in Ethiopia and Vietnam found that campers build stronger peer and family
rela琀椀onships, take their medica琀椀on correctly and consistently (improved adherence) and show an increase in posi琀椀ve health
and hygiene behaviors.
“In partnership with WWO, we are proud to be crea琀椀ng camp and recrea琀椀onal experiences that not only
foster resilience and nurture hope, but support healing across borders and boundaries. Our admira琀椀on for the
work of WWO as a collaborator runs deep, underpinned by years of shared dedica琀椀on to the transforma琀椀ve
impact of camp in the lives of thousands of children and families facing adversity. Together, we are united in
our commitment to empowering children living with serious medical condi琀椀ons to realize their full poten琀椀al.”
