How our plans will drive results for good
The Coop has ambitious plans to transform
the business over the coming years. Many
of these plans will improve customer
experience and drive efficiencies on behalf
of our members. We are also conscious of
how our plans will benefit the environment,
communities, colleagues and business
partnerships for good.
We are implementing leading edge
technology in our stores and head office to
manage the retail process on an integrated
basis. This will make colleagues’ lives easier by
enabling us to order just the right amount of
stock at the right time. This should also help
reduce food waste. We have implemented
low-power LCD price displays at the
shelf edge. This is not just a labour-saving
technology – it will save a huge amount of
paper which used to just get thrown away
whenever prices or products changed.

OUR BLUEPRINT
The Coop is partnering with local technology
providers to consider the use of LoRa solutions for
monitoring internal use of our stores, with a view
to then instantly adapting energy consumption to
suit. This will help reduce nugatory cost and wasted
energy through heating and lighting stores when
they are not being fully-used.
Our ambition is to develop a new app for
members, which will enable them to get
relevant information on their smartphone and
will automatically credit their share account
with dividend every time they shop.
We are continuing to replace our chilled and
frozen food units with the latest technology
that monitors energy usage and reduces the
emission of harmful refrigerant gases.
We’ll continue to invest in the use of renewable
energy solutions and EV charging points, and
we’ll continue to upgrade our own vehicle fleet
in an environmentally conscious way.
