We’ve Had Time

He pulled into the driveway and stared at
the house. It was a bungalow with a nat
brown roof and beige siding. The front
door was bright red, and marigolds were
blooming in the garden. It was exactly how
she9d described it.
He grabbed the key from under the
doormat and unlocked the door. He crept
inside quietly, careful not to wake her. He
walked towards the bedroom, glancing
between his watch and the calendar on the
wall. 1974. Good. He was in the right year.
He cracked open the bedroom door and
saw her lying there. Her brown hair spilled
over the pillows, she looked like a painting
as she slept. He walked over and brushed
a strand of hair out of her face. Her eyes
opened in alarm as she sat up, scrambling
backward. Once she realized it was him,
a grin spread across her face and she
smacked his arm.
