Sonnet
(The Soil, the Seeds)
by Kyri Friedman
Oh, nowers may be fragranced soft and sweet
But delicate they are, and fade with time.
This love that joins us is, I9d say, concrete;
As reasonable as this very rhyme.
We are the soil, we are the very seeds
That nourish blossoms, which that scent provide.
A nourishing facade is scent, indeed3
But sweet Earth lasts, it cannot be denied.
Longevity, I cannot guarantee.
Two grains within a sea of ground might part!
But nourishing that same sweet plant as thee,
I trust to thee my hope and too my heart.
Oh, nowers break and wither, break and die,
But soil will forever life supply.
