Nightingale’s
lament
by Shreya Srikanth
In this wretched square where secrets breathe,
I sing of love, no mind of peace
Yet, heartbreak grows, and croak does she,
Love9s name grows cold 4 he takes his leave.
A nightingale, my melody weaves
In and out, to love or to grieve
A tale of passion, born to deceive
He weeps, no words, just broken and bereaved.
My song, an orchestra of broken dreams
Echoes through the woods, a mournful theme
In unseen shadows, my soul does scream
While I sing of love under a midwinter9s 8eve.
Abandoned, in that silent, dark, and dreary sleeve
He mourned, his heart none but a broken sheath
For love9s notion, I, nightingale, must nee
From this wretched square where secrets breathe.
