orata
by John Litschko
Of her features.
My seducing apparition renders
Me no respite,
As I toss and turn in turmoil through the night,
She comes again,
And being but a man
I haven’t anymore, the will to fight.
In her eyes
He has found Infinite.
Out stumbles a man,
Out of tune with the undulations
Of the waves that rock him.
He has no course,
And anchored only by reason,
He pulls up his anchor.
“Inamorata!”
In the maw of the storm
He has found home.
In her violent hair
He has found serenity.
He sails on towards her
So he may tempt fate,
Flirt with death,
And play at love.

2nd place
winner in
the Poetry

this year’s
Teen Writing
