lips pressed into a subtle frown. He looked
at me as if he could read my mind; we
were so young, eagerly awaiting our plans
for the set future. Our wedding had been
planned down to the colour of the napkins,
complete with a lengthy list of baby
names, written out in anticipation. I would
often catch myself daydreaming about the
house we’d own, our names painted onto
our mailbox, somewhere we could build
our life.
