Relate West Surrey
With My Eyes is a unique 12-week
course of dramatherapy sessions which
supports young people with their
mental-health and well-being. Sessions
are run by GSC facilitators and
professional HCPC registered drama
therapists. This project remains
completely unique because we deliver a
parallel process with the parents and
young people, ensuring that the family
unit is carried in its entirety, which is vital
to growth, development, repair and
understanding.
Relate West Surrey (RWS) is a
registered charity with over 85 years of
experience helping people with their
relationships. RWS will help people
whether they are married or not and
whatever their sexual orientation, race,
personal beliefs, or social background.
Relate West Surrey offers confidential
relationship counselling for individuals,
couples, children, young people, and
families in 7 Boroughs: Woking, Surrey
Heath, Spelthorne, Guildford,
Runnymede, Waverley, and Elmbridge.
As a result of the program, we observe
from that all participants have shown
improvement in their ability to
communicate, and this improvement has
been significant in enhancing the
relationships they have with their
families and increased understanding
gained from viewing things from a
different perspective. As confidence
flourishes within the project, it also has a
positive ripple effect in society, fostering
the development of more meaningful
relationships beyond. The ability to
express one's needs is fundamental,
and this growth within the family unit is
exceptionally important.
Our service for children and young
people is called iRelate and is a safe
place for children and young people
aged 10-18 to talk about and better
cope with the challenges they’re facing.
This can include anything from body
image, self-harm, and bullying to issues
at home such as divorce and
separation. “I now feel more openminded and more able to talk to people
honestly about things.” Corey, aged 14.
HSYA funding allows us to help children
and young people from a low-income
household receive subsidised
counselling sessions each year.
We are so grateful for the continued
support of HSYA.
Our last report between 1st October to
31st December 2023 showed a 94%
improvement in young people's mental
health.
