A sprawling 34,000-acre wildlife refuge is home
to hundreds of thousands of birds. The coastal
marsh and prairie habitat is a year-round birding

when migrants come pouring across the Gulf.
Sightings and numbers are highest during fallout
when fast-moving cold fronts come through. Be
