seafood, including crab. Crab dishes such as BBQ
crabs, crab boils, crab étouffée, and crab cakes are
staples in Cajun cooking. Our area is surrounded by
bayous, rivers, beaches and wetlands which make it
an ideal crabbing location.

communities. With French, African, and Caribbean
influences, it’s often danced to upbeat music,

Listen to live music or join in for a lively Cajun and
Creole acoustic jam session third Thursdays from 6
to 8:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in nearby
Nederland, located at 922 Nederland Avenue.
Whether you’re a seasoned musician or just love to
listen, all are welcome!
