“Remnant Totems” Aluminum, Brass, and Copper on Wood
CASSIDY WATT
Cassidy Watt grew up in New York City and earned a fine arts degree at the
New York Institute of Technology. Working with aluminum, brass, and copper
on wood, he’s become known for colorful, non-objective totems constructed
using chemical fuming, resist processing, acid patination, and techniques of
scourging, scorching, and scarifying. The infinite variety of colors and surface
textures in his sculptures reflects his youth in an industrial city combined with
the caustic weathering of New Mexico’s sun. (Joined VFA in 2020.)
