Rising heavyweights Richard Torrez Jr. and
Guido “The Gladiator” Vianello will square off in
a high-stakes 10-round main event on Saturday,
April 5, at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms
Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The highly
anticipated bout, promoted by Top Rank, will
stream live and exclusively on ESPN+.
Torrez (12-0, 11 KOs), a U.S. Olympic silver
medalist from Tulare, California, has quickly
risen from prospect to contender with his
aggressive southpaw style. After a dominant
2023, he reestablished his knockout streak in
December with a third-round stoppage of Issac
Munoz. Now, he faces his toughest challenge yet.
“This is the moment I’ve been working
toward,” Torrez said. “I want to prove I’m the best
and show what American heavyweights are made
of.”
Vianello (13-2-1, 11 KOs), an Italian Olympian,
has gained momentum with a first-round KO of
Moses Johnson and an upset TKO victory over
Arslanbek Makhmudov. Now, he aims to take
down another rising star.
“Richard has never fought anyone like me,”
Vianello said. “I’ll prove I’m Top Rank’s best
heavyweight and move toward a world title.”
Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum called the fight
a “heavyweight classic in the making,” featuring
two powerful and determined fighters. With both
men seeking a statement win, this Las Vegas
showdown promises fireworks. toprank.com
