Phase IV: Your New Employee’s Day 3 - 90
During the first months, your new employee will get more familiar with his/her role and USC.
Instructions: The Day 3 – 90 Checklist provides a general checklist for the first three months
and should help your new employee get acclimated with his/her new position. The Day
30/60/90 Checklist provides time sensitive activities that should be done at the 30/60/90 Day
intervals within the first 90 Days.
Day 3 - 90 Checklist:
Check in often with your new employee.
Tip: a check in can occur in person or over the phone if you are traveling.
Allow time for your new employee to attend the First Week Networking Reception (typically on the first
Friday).
Allow time for your new employee to attend the Day 30 Networking Reception.
Allow time for your new employee to attend the Day 90 Networking Reception.
Begin to create a development plan for your new employee.
Begin inviting your new employee to key meetings.
Create opportunities for your new employee to interact with others employees and understand USC
culture.
Encourage other colleagues to invite your new employee to partake in campus activities.
If your new employee has direct reports, set up meetings with him/her and their support staff.
Invite your new employee to join you for lunch. Invite other team members, and reinforce the
message that your new employee’s contributions will be appreciated.
Day 30 Checklist:
Complete the Day 30 Check-in, using the form included in this guide.
Ask about your new employee’s experience with trainings (e.g. Thrive 101, Trojan Knowledge
Expedition, and Management Essentials Training). Ask questions about the topics covered in the first
session. (Use course agendas provided in the Additional Resources section).
Day 60 Checklist:
Complete the Day 60 Check-in, using the form included in this guide.
Ask about your new employee’s experience with trainings (e.g. Thrive 101, Trojan Knowledge
Expedition, and Management Essentials Training). Ask questions on topics covered in the second
session. (Use course agendas provided in the Additional Resources section).
Day 90 Checklist:
Complete the Day 90 Check-in, using the form included in this guide.
Ask about your new employee’s experience with trainings (e.g. Thrive 101, Trojan Knowledge
