Completed in 1976, La Maison Des
Acadienne - or “house of Acadia”
- is a replica of a fully stocked,
authentic Acadian dwelling
offering an intimate glimpse
into the home lives of the Cajun
pioneers who settled the area
alongside the Dutch.

This cypress house was built around 1810.
It was barged in from Vermilion Parish,
LA. and restored by “Les Acadiens du
Texas.” The name “Beausoleil,” which
means “beautiful sunshine,” honors
the Acadian freedom fighter Joseph
Broussard dit Beausoleil.
Hours: Sat.-Sun. 1-5 p.m. April - November.
