Welcome to United Hospital Fund’s 2022 Gala.
We always look forward to this wonderful occasion, but tonight is certainly a
milestone. For the first time in three years, we are together in person!
A lot has changed since we last gathered in this room. New Yorkers and our health
care system have been severely tested and, while the challenges continue, there is
renewed commitment and energy to work together to build the effective and
equitable health care system we all want and need.
Tonight, we are especially pleased to honor four exceptional individuals who
embody United Hospital Fund’s ideals and who demonstrate the importance of
individual leadership. Each of our honorees has made a pivotal contribution to
health care improvement, and it is our great privilege to spotlight the impact they
are making on our health care system—and on the lives of so many, both locally
and around the world. We thank each of them for allowing us to tell their story,
and we salute them for their leadership, vision, and commitment.
United Hospital Fund has a unique role to play in the work of health care
improvement. Tonight’s support will help us advance three shared goals: improved
quality of care and patient safety; universal, affordable, and comprehensive health
insurance coverage and access to care; and vital collaborations between the health
care system, social service agencies, and communities to address the social factors
that are driving health inequities.
In all we do, UHF prioritizes those individuals and communities facing the greatest
barriers to good health and good health care. Proceeds from tonight’s Gala
advance this important work.
Thank you for joining us and for supporting United Hospital Fund. We look forward
to continuing our work together.
