Dear Friends:
I am delighted to welcome everyone to the United Hospital Fund (UHF)’s annual Tribute to
Excellence in Health Care.
New York has long been one of our nation’s leading pioneers in medical advancement and
innovation, from the discovery of dendritic cells—a key component in our immune system—to
the first pediatric heart transplant. For well over a century, UHF has buttressed these efforts
through its investments in cutting-edge research, thorough guidelines, and patient-centered care.
When we speak of high-quality health care, it is a pledge to provide the best attention possible.
UHF has been one of that sector’s leading voices, and for years, it has continuously reevaluated
new data, research, and understandings to accurately update these guidelines. By honing in on
what constitutes excellent wellness management, this organization has implemented more
equitable and inclusive treatment options, established a strong framework for all providers to
draw upon, and built up public trust in our health care institutions. In addition, this group is also
damming up the rivers that lead to the sea of unhealthy living and preventable diseases and
conditions through programs that provide policy solutions to underinsurance throughout New
York and study the impact of non-clinical determinants of health. In recognition of its many
contributions to the five boroughs, I am pleased to recognize UHF for its indelibly positive
impact on the people of our great city.
