For his leadership in forming an interdisciplinary
committee, which developed a strategic plan that led
to significant reductions in avoidable patient safety
events through team building and engagement with
front-line staff; and for applying that same collaborative
approach to an institutional plan to promote health
equity, making Maimonides Health an area leader.
Chethan Sathya, MD, MSc, FRCSC, FACS
Director, Center for Gun Violence Prevention
Northwell Health
For his work as director of the Center for Gun Violence
Prevention, a role in which he has led a multidisciplinary
team, successfully obtained over $2 million in funding
for injury prevention and public health research, and
spearheaded the formation of a learning collaborative
where hospitals develop best practices and implement
strategies to prevent firearm injuries.

For her work to develop a systemwide Diversity, Equity,
Inclusion Council to advance health equity, foster an
engaged and inclusive work culture, and strengthen the
diversity of talent at all levels; and for her leadership in
establishing 12 projects to identify disparities in the
patient population and implement improvements.
