to safely maximize family time for patients with
advanced cancer while balancing the need to keep the
cancer center safe.

For his tireless work over 25 years, including leading
SOMOS’s network through the pandemic while serving
as a frontline physician; and for his focus on health care
quality, including a program to bridge health care gaps
for patients diagnosed with chronic diseases and an
initiative to ensure network practices have Patient
Centered Medical Home certification.

For collaborating with house staff, nursing, and
administrative leadership to improve patients’ access to
care and delivery of equitable care, including reducing
the call center’s call abandonment rate by more than
half, improving the clinic’s wait time by 40 minutes, and
creating post-operative patient instruction videos and
written guides in multiple languages.
