Welcome
Welcome to the sixth annual Tribute to Excellence in Health Care
Recognizing Quality Improvement Champions.
Today’s Tribute is intended to amplify the vital work underway to make our
health care system more equitable and effective, with a special focus on
making it more patient-focused, outcome-driven, and safe. We are proud to
honor 67 outstanding individuals whose commitment and leadership have
propelled efforts to improve quality of care, patient safety, and the patient
experience at their institutions.
Our honorees met challenges head on and tackled health inequities—
innovating in real time, supporting their teams, and responding to the human
as well as the clinical needs of patients and families. They helped develop
and spread best practices, improve efficiency, ensure patient safety, and
address the broader social factors that lead to disparate health outcomes.
By recognizing and celebrating their achievements, we hope to nurture the
creativity, focus, and persistence that are essential to quality improvement
and effective, equitable health care.
All of us in this room know well that a commitment to quality health care is
deeply embedded in the mission of every health care organization, yet health
care quality, safety, and outcomes remain far too variable, and the need for
continuous quality improvement persists. The 64 health care organizations
whose nominees are singled out today are united in their pursuit of delivering
the best in patient care. We thank them for their vital service and leadership—
and for making this awards program possible by identifying our honorees.
We look forward to continuing our work together to build a health care system
that is affordable, accessible, and equitable; provides a better patient experience
and the highest quality of care; and achieves optimal health outcomes.
