The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong
to him.
For he laid the earth’s foundation on the
seas
and built it on the ocean depths.
Who may climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
Only those whose hands and hearts are
pure,
who do not worship idols
and never tell lies.
They will receive the Lord’s blessing
and have a right relationship with God
their savior.
Such people may seek you
and worship in your presence,
O God of Jacob.*

Open up, ancient gates!
Open up, ancient doors,
and let the King of glory enter.
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty;
the Lord, invincible in battle.
Open up, ancient gates!
Open up, ancient doors,
and let the King of glory enter.
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord of Heaven’s A
rmies—
he is the King of glory.

My child,* if you have put up security
for a friend’s debt
or agreed to guarantee the debt
of a s tranger—
if you have trapped yourself by your
agreement
and are caught by what you said—
follow my advice and save yourself,
for you have placed yourself at your
friend’s mercy.
Now swallow your pride;
go and beg to have your name erased.
Don’t put it off; do it now!
Don’t rest until you do.
Save yourself like a gazelle escaping from
a hunter,
like a bird fleeing from a net.
6:1 Hebrew My son.
T H E C O N D I T I O N O F O U R H E A RT R E A L LY M AT T E R S . God can use whatever heart we
bring, but let us hope we are pliable, for everyone’s sake. Want to rebel? God can take our
prone-to-hardness heart condition, even exaggerate it, and still arrive at his destination.
We would be mistaken to think that in our rebellion we can defy God and his purposes. We
have free choice on how we show up, but God has ultimate choice and will accomplish his
aim, despite our defiance or through it. He is very resourceful, and sooner or later we
will recognize his sovereignty. Let’s aim for sooner.

EXODUS 10:1–12:13
Then the Lord said to M
oses, “Return to Pha
raoh and make your demands again. I have
made him and his officials stubborn* so I can
display my miraculous signs among them.
2 I’ve also done it so you can tell your children
and grandchildren about how I made a mockery of the Egyptians and about the signs I displayed among t hem—and so you will know
that I am the Lord.”

3 So Moses and A
aron went to Pharaoh and
said, “This is what the Lord, the God of the
Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to
submit to me? Let my people go, so they can
worship me. 4 If you refuse, watch out! For
tomorrow I will bring a swarm of locusts on
your country. 5 They will cover the land so that
you won’t be able to see the ground. They will
devour what little is left of your crops after the
hailstorm, including all the trees growing in
