PSALM 22:19‑31
19 O Lord, do not stay far away!
You are my strength; come quickly
to my aid!
20 Save me from the sword;
spare my precious life from these dogs.
21 Snatch me from the lion’s jaws
and from the horns of these wild oxen.

I will proclaim your name to my brothers
and sisters.*
I will praise you among your assembled
people.
Praise the Lord, all you who fear him!
Honor him, all you descendants of Jacob!
Show him reverence, all you
descendants of Israel!
For he has not ignored or belittled the
suffering of the needy.
He has not turned his back on them,
but has listened to their cries for help.
I will praise you in the great assembly.
I will fulfill my vows in the presence of
those who worship you.
The poor will eat and be satisfied.
All who seek the Lord will praise him.
Their hearts will rejoice with
everlasting joy.

The whole earth will acknowledge the
Lord and return to him.
All the families of the nations will bow
down before him.
For royal power belongs to the Lord.
He rules all the nations.
Let the rich of the earth feast and worship.
Bow before him, all who are mortal,
all whose lives will end as dust.
Our children will also serve him.
Future generations will hear about the
wonders of the Lord.
His righteous acts will be told to those not
yet born.
They will hear about everything he
has done.

PROVERBS 20:8‑10
8 When a king sits in judgment, he weighs
all the evidence,
distinguishing the bad from the good.
9 Who can say, “I have cleansed my heart;
I am pure and free from sin”?
10 False weights and unequal measures*—
the Lord detests double standards
of every kind.
20:10 Hebrew A stone and a stone, an ephah and an ephah.
CHANGE YOUR MIND AND CHANGE YOUR HEART || S
ometimes we don’t
even know we are doing something wrong or that we could do better. We just rock
along doing what we were taught or what we saw everyone else doing. We require a
change of thinking to stop acting out the familiar and allow God to transform us into
the men he created us to be. You might think it is easy, but giving up old thought patterns
and distortions is one of the most difficult things we can do. With God’s transforming
power, let’s do it anyway.

2 CHRONICLES 26:1–28:27
All the people of Judah had crowned Ama
ziah’s sixteen-year-old son, Uzziah, as king in
place of his father. 2 After his father’s death,
Uzziah rebuilt the town of Elath* and restored
it to Judah.
3
Uzziah was sixteen years old when he
became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem
fifty-two years. His mother was Jecoliah from
Jerusalem. 4 He did what was pleasing in the
Lord’s sight, just as his father, Amaziah, had
done. 5 Uzziah sought God during the days of
Zechariah, who taught him to fear God.* And
as long as the king sought guidance from the
Lord, God gave him success.

6 Uzziah declared war on the Philistines and
broke down the walls of Gath, Jabneh, and
Ashdod. Then he built new towns in the Ash
dod area and in other parts of Philistia. 7 God
helped him in his wars against the Philistines,
his battles with the Arabs of Gur,* and his wars
with the Meunites. 8 The Meunites* paid an
nual tribute to him, and his fame spread even
to Egypt, for he had become very powerful.
9 Uzziah built fortified towers in Jerusalem
at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at
the angle in the wall. 10 He also constructed
forts in the wilderness and dug many water
cisterns, because he kept great herds of live
stock in the foothills of Judah* and on the
