Priorities
As a Christian, one of the most dramatic changes in your life will be the way
you spend your time. Your pursuits and ambitions in life will be different.
After all, you are no longer living for yourself but for God. It may be a difficult
transition at first, but here are a few pointers we can glean from God’s Word.
• What is number one in your life? see Exodus 20:3-5, page 76
• Choose today whom you will serve see Joshua 24:15, page 228
• Make it your first priority to know God see 1 Chronicles 28:9, page 398
• Don’t waste time pursuing things that won’t last see Psalm 39:1-7, page 520
• Spend time feeding your soul see Isaiah 55:1-13, page 675
• Balance Christian service with worship see Luke 10:38-42, page 974
• Keep your spiritual passion alive see Romans 12:11, page 1081
• Place Christ before all else see Philippians 3:4-11, page 1142
Relationships
The people we associate with on a regular basis can either help or hinder our
spiritual growth. For that reason God has given us some invaluable advice and
strong warnings when it comes to choosing our friends. Look at the following
Scripture passages to see what to pursue and what to avoid in your relationships with others.
• Who is influencing you? see 2 Chronicles 10:8, page 410
• Don’t be influenced by those who have no interest in God see Psalm 1:1-6,
page 501
• We must serve others see John 13:6-14, page 1013
• Avoid relationships that could cause you to sin see 2 Corinthians 6:14–7:1,
page 1116
• Find a close Christian friend see Galatians 6:1-3, page 1129
• Spend time with God’s people see Philemon 1:4-7, page 1175
• Find good examples to follow, and be a good example for others see Hebrews 6:12,
page 1182
