PHILIPPIANS 4:14

Fix Your
Thoughts
Fix your thoughts on what
is true, and honorable,
and right, and pure,
and lovely, and admirable.
Philippians 4:8
Read: Philippians 4:2-9
What you put in your mind
eventually comes out in your
words and actions. If you let
negative thoughts settle into
your mind, you will eventually
speak those kinds of words and
behave in those kinds of ways.
If you put honest and positive
thoughts into your mind, that’s
what will show in your words
and behavior. Fill your mind with
thoughts about God and his love
for all people. Think about how
you can obey and serve God. Put
good thoughts in your mind and
good behavior will result. But you
are in control of your thoughts.
That is an act of your will. You can
decide to live for God by pushing
negative thoughts out of your
mind and filling your mind with
good things. Meditate on those
good things so your thoughts
stay healthy.
One way to feed your mind
with good, healthy thoughts is
to read your Bible and memorize
Bible verses. You are in charge
of your thoughts and what you
let settle into them. Focus on
obeying God and putting others
first.
Dear God, Help me to focus on
positive, healthy thoughts. I
know I’ll be happier and more
pleasant to be around if I can
do this. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Christ,* who gives me strength. 14 Even so, you have done well to share with
me in my present difficulty.
15 As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial
help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from
Macedonia. No other church did this. 16 Even when I was in Thessalonica
you sent help more than once. 17 I don’t say this because I want a gift from
you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.
18 At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied
with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling
sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God. 19 And this same God who
takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which
have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
20 Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen.
Paul’s Final Greetings
21 Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ
Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings. 22 And all the
rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s
household.
23 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.*
4:13 Greek through the one.
4:23 Some manuscripts add Amen.
