Unity & Teamwork continued
• E X O DU S 1 7 :1 1 -1 3 | As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the
advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage.
Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur
found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his
hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army
of Amalek in battle.
• E X O DU S 4 :1 5 -1 6 | “Talk to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you
as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do. Aaron will be your spokesman to
the people. He will be your mouthpiece, and you will stand in the place of God for him,
telling him what to say.”
Teamwork means helping each other finish the job. Creative solutions are often the result
of several people working together to solve a problem.
• 3 J O H N 1 :5 -8 | Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling
teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you. They have told the church
here of your loving friendship. Please continue providing for such teachers in a manner that
pleases God. For they are traveling for the Lord, and they accept nothing from people who
are not believers. So we ourselves should support them so that we can be their partners as
they teach the truth.

• R O MA NS 1 5 :3 0 -3 2 | Dear brothers and sisters, I urge you in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ to join in my struggle by praying to God for me. Do this because of your love for me,
given to you by the Holy Spirit. Pray that I will be rescued from those in Judea who refuse
to obey God. Pray also that the believers there will be willing to accept the donation I am
taking to Jerusalem. Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful
heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
Teamwork means supporting and encouraging each other to continue to serve and not give up.
How is teamwork an important part of the Christian life?
• 1 C O R I NT H I A NS 3 :8 -9 | The one who plants and the one who waters work together with
the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both
God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.
All who belong to God belong to the same God. As a result, you now have many partners
as you live and learn and work.
• E PH E S I A NS 4 :1 2 | Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up
the church, the body of Christ.
• MA L A C H I 2 :1 0 | Are we not all children of the same Father? Are we not all created by the
same God? Then why do we betray each other, violating the covenant of our ancestors?
• 1 C O R I NT H I A NS 1 2 :6 | God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the
work in all of us.
All who serve God serve the same God. It is important that you work together to support
and encourage each other. This will motivate you to greater service and help to avoid
burnout. Make sure that you are well-supported and that you support others to continue
serving God. You will do your individual work better as you work together with others.
• PH I L I P P I A NS 2 :3 -4 | Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of
others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an
interest in others, too.
We who belong to God should genuinely love one another.
How can I team up with God in his work?
• J O H N 1 5 :5 | “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in
them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”
Recognize your dependency on God. You are more likely to work well with someone when
you realize your life is dependent upon them.
