• L U K E 1 1 :4 | “And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let
us yield to temptation.”
Jesus used the tool of prayer—communicating honestly with God—and encouraged us to
do so for ourselves and on behalf of each another.
How do I recover when I have given in to temptation?
• 1 J O H N 1 :9 | But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
God’s grace is greater than your failure. His forgiveness overcomes your sin. Temptation
only wins when it keeps you from turning back to God. No matter how often you fail, God
welcomes you back through the love of Jesus Christ.
PROMISES FROM GOD
• PSA L M 1 :1 | Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand
around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
• 2 T H E S S A L O NI A NS 3 :3 | But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you
from the evil one.

Terrorism works by planting fear in the hearts of people and driving a wedge of distrust
between the people and their leaders. The goal of terrorism is to disrupt the economy
and cause a breakdown of the society. Even though terrorism is a violent outward act
of aggression, its real purpose is to destroy a people and culture from within by the
fear, insecurity, and despair it produces. Satan and his demons have used these same
terrorism tactics on people’s souls since the beginning of time, trying to cause chaos
in our lives so that we will live afraid, be insecure, and have more and more distrust
of God’s presence and help in our daily lives. God’s Word presents a whole range of
counter-terrorism tactics to help us avoid fear and learn to live with peace of mind and
heart, whether our attackers are physical or spiritual forces.
How can I avoid living in constant fear?
• PSA L M 2 7 :1 | The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The
Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
Trusting that God is in control of the world, that he is all-powerful, and that he will one day
judge all people and punish the wicked can free you from crippling fear. Without this confident trust, you have no choice but to live with a great deal of insecurity. When the Bible
says God protects us from danger, it sometimes means that God protects us from physical
danger but always means God protects his people from the spiritual danger of losing their
soul to Satan. When you commit your life to following Jesus Christ, your eternal future is
secure.
• MAT T H E W 1 0 :2 8 | “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch
your soul.”
Ironically, the thought of dying at the hands of a terrorist attack can bring peace instead of
fear when you remember that your eternity is secure. When you place your allegiance with
Jesus Christ your soul is untouchable by terrorists. This can allow you to go about your life
with a greater degree of normalcy.
• MAT T H E W 6 :3 4 | “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries.
Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Refuse to panic about what might happen. You do this by making a conscious effort to not
think about what you can’t control and to think only about what you can control. Fretting
