God has a special place in his heart for those who feel alone and overwhelmed.
• MAT T H E W 2 8 :2 0 | “And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
• PH I L I P P I A NS 4 :1 3 | For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
God is always with you, and he is ready to give you the strength you need if you sincerely

How do I meet the needs of my hurting children when I’m still dealing with my
own pain?
• 1 K I NG S 1 9 :1 1 -1 2 | After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the
earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And
after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed, take time out to just be with your children. Learn
together that calmness in the middle of chaotic circumstances is possible with God’s help.
Seize every small opportunity you can find to slow down and listen for his gentle voice.
• H E B R E W S 1 2 :1 5 | Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of

many.

In the emotional upheaval that usually accompanies the breakup of a family, watch your
words carefully, especially if you have had a difficult parting with your ex-spouse. By protecting your children’s ears and hearts, you will help their healing process.
• MA R K 4 :3 9 | When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence!
Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.

In order to be effective on the battlefield a soldier must be both well trained and properly
equipped. The warrior must have access, as well, to both a defensive stronghold and
offensive weaponry. He or she must know the enemy and be alert for surprise attacks. So
it is in our spiritual battle with Satan. Determined to destroy our faith by leading us into
sin and discouragement, Satan attacks with blatant temptation and deceptive lies. The
Bible teaches that the best weapons for this warfare are the Word of God and prayer.
God promises special blessings to those who hang on to their faith in him no matter
what happens. For your faith to become strong and genuine, you will likely need to endure
testing. Sometimes the hardest test is being scorned, mocked, or ignored by others
because of your faith in God. It is during these hard times that your character is revealed
and forced to grow. How you handle spiritual warfare and persecution shows who you
really are on the inside, and it reveals your level and reality of commitment to God. The
Bible tells us about many people who never stopped trusting God even though they were
mocked, persecuted, and even killed for their faith. You may never face martyrdom for
being a Christian, but is your faith strong enough to endure even a little derision or scorn?
Those who live boldly for God, despite opposition, make a great impact for eternity.
