because I have overcome the world.”
• 1 P E T E R 5 :7 | Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
When you are persecuted.
• I SA I A H 4 1 :1 0 | Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your

When you wonder about your plans for the future.
Will God really take time to involve himself in my little problems?
• I SA I A H 4 0 :1 1 | He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms
. . . [and] gently lead the mother sheep with their young.
God has a shepherd’s heart. We are his lambs, weak and discouraged, carried in his arms.
• NA H U M 1 :7 | The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those
who trust in him. (See note on Comfort on page 828.)
A God who is good wants to do good things for his loved ones.
How can I better experience God’s presence in my life?
• PSA L M 1 4 5 :1 8 | The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.
The Lord invites you to call on him without hesitation. He promises to reveal himself to
you if your heart is sincere in wanting to know him rather than just wanting to use him as
a good-luck charm or magic potion.
• 2 C H R O NI C L E S 7 :1 4 | “If my people . . . will . . . seek my face and turn from their wicked
ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins.”
Sin drives a wedge between people and God. God reveals himself when you turn away
from your sinful habits and attitudes by confessing them to him and then turn toward him
to be clean on the inside. Only then can you begin to experience his presence in your life.
• PSA L M 2 7 :4 | The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the
house of the Lord all the days of my life.
You can know God through earnest and sincere worship.
• J E R E MI A H 2 9 :1 2 -1 3 | “When you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly,
you will find me.” (See note on page 693.)
Seeking and finding God requires consistent and purposeful prayer.
• MAT T H E W 7 :7 | “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.”
God invites you to approach him as a child approaches a loving father.
• 1 C H R O NI C L E S 2 8 :2 0 | “Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God,
is with you.”
