• DE U T E R O NO MY 1 0 :2 1 | “He alone is your God, the only one who is worthy of your praise,
the one who has done these mighty miracles that you have seen with your own eyes.”
God does the impossible to draw people to him.
• PSA L M 6 5 :5 | You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior.
You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas.
• PSA L M 7 8 :7 | So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his
glorious miracles and obeying his commands.
While impossibilities limit people and exhaust all human resources, they set the stage
on which God is at his best—loving us, bringing salvation, changing lives, and meeting
needs.
• PSA L M 1 0 6 :2 | Who can list the glorious miracles of the Lord? Who can ever praise him
enough?
• PSA L M 8 9 :5 | All heaven will praise your great wonders, Lord; myriads of angels will
praise you for your faithfulness.
• PSA L M 1 3 6 :4 | Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles. His faithful love
endures forever.
God does the impossible to prepare people to praise him. Your limitations prepare you to
praise the God of no limitations.
• PH I L I PP I A NS 4 :1 3 | For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Although burning the breakfast toast is a mistake, it is trivial and leaves no lasting
consequences. On the other hand, a doctor who misreads a chart has made a mistake
of considerably greater implications. We all make mistakes. Some of our mistakes are
innocent—we forget an appointment, we know the right answer on a math test but
accidently put down a different number. Other mistakes are caused by bad judgment or
a disregard for a rule or principle. For example, your boss asks you to do an important
task and gives you detailed instructions on how to accomplish it. But you ignore those
instructions because you think you know how the job should be done. You botch the
job, and your company loses a lot of money. That is a significant mistake that could
have been avoided if you had simply followed instructions. The Bible is God’s instruction manual for life. If you neglect or ignore it, you will make many avoidable mistakes
that will bring adversity and grief into your life. God wrote the Bible so that we could
understand the rules, techniques, and principles for living the most effective, productive, and satisfying life possible. Follow its words, and many big mistakes can be
avoided.
What does the Bible say about mistakes?
• G E NE SI S 3 :1 2 -1 3 | The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the
fruit.” . . . “The serpent deceived me,” she replied.
Both Adam and Eve responded to mistakes by shifting the blame to someone else rather
than taking responsibility for their actions.
• J U DG E S 1 6 :1 7 , 2 1 , 2 8 | Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. . . . So the Philistines
captured him and gouged out his eyes. . . . Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign
Lord, remember me again.”
God can still use you despite your mistakes. Samson’s life, while filled with foolish
mistakes, was still mightily used by God.
