WHAT JESUS’ DEATHMEANS FOR METhe Bible promises that when we put our hopeand trust in Jesus Christ, all kinds of supernatural—yet very real—changes happen to us and in us:roveoss to lifercWe death )! Everyone wants a life thatis free from guilt and full of joy and purpose. But we hear many different messages about the best way to have all of these things—andthat can be confusing. We often hear that having popularity, success,or money is what life is all about. But these messages are wrong. There is only one way to peace with God, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life. Before going to die on the cross, Jesus told hisdisciples, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one cancome to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).Jesus is the way, the only way.The SeparationThe bad news is that all people have been separated from God andhis gift of eternal life. We’re separated because we are sinners; thatmeans that we all often do what’s wrong and don’t do what’s right. It’s in our nature.Romans 3:23 clearly states, “For everyone has sinned; we allfall short of God’s glorious standard.” In other words, no one whohas ever lived (except Jesus) can get to God on their own merit.Something has to happen. Actually, something did happen.5.1
