Her appreciation for actors who had skills
beyond her own led her to uncover a new
dimension within the realm of theater. This
is where her journey of directing plays began.
Her first experience in the world of theater
came as an assistant, directing for a children’s
theater in high school.
Not everyone discovers their passion so early
on in life, however, Leblanc is one of the few
individuals who did.
Like most of us, senior Liz Leblanc always
wanted to be a Disney Channel star when
she was younger. She sat in the TV room of
her childhood home and watched children
act in movies and shows, imagining what it
would be like to be on television like them.
She didn’t end up on the television screen.
However, her initial interest in acting guided
her elsewhere.
“It had a special impact on me because
it was the first time I was looked up to,”
Leblanc said. “I knew that what I said and
did had an impact.”
From that moment on, Leblanc found theater
as a way to leave lasting impressions on
others. She was confident that her natural
talent in theater would drive her studies
heading into college.
She attended her older cousin’s plays when
she was younger, and grew more enthusiastic
about acting. Her mother had the idea to get
her involved in theater. She signed up for
after-school theater in first grade. This is
where Leblanc found her natural draw to the
world of theater.
“My late father passed away in spring
2023,” Leblanc said. “He always told me
that if you love your job, you’ll never
work a day in your life.”
She began acting in plays and she was
hooked. While she derived enjoyment from
acting herself, she couldn’t help but find deep
inspiration in the talents of other actors.
“I know how hard it is to act, and I have a
large respect for the craft and for people
who take their time to do the work,”
Leblanc said.

She wholeheartedly lives by that statement,
saying that what keeps her going is making
a better future for herself and her family.
Actively pursuing her love for directing,
Leblanc became part of the University
Theatre Alliance, taking on the role of
directing a staged reading. She now serves
