The Ethanol Papers - Paperturn manuscript - Flipbook - Page 9
Acknowledgements & Thanks
I owe a great deal to lots of people who have done fantastic work documenting,
producing, experimenting with, and teaching about alternative fuels. First and
foremost are William Kovarik and David Blume. And when I thank Dave Blume
and Bill Kovarik it means that I also thank and acknowledge the teams that they
have worked with. In Dave's case, there is at the very least Tom Harvey and
Ian "Scotty" Crawford, and on Bill's side there are his co-authors (Hal Bernton
and Scott Sklar) of their seminal book "THE FORBIDDEN FUEL - A History of
Power Alcohol." Throughout this book, as well as in the bibliography at the conclusion, I provide links to the various materials produced by Bill and Dave.
Equal thanks and acknowledgments to Edwin Black, Bobby Likis, Tom Quinn,
Adam Khan and Classy Evans, Mark Fulmer, Robert Rapier, Ron Lamberty,
Brad Brunner, Robert Falco, Anne Korin, Josh and Rebecca Tickell, Steve
Vander Griend, Ted Chipner, Jeff Broin and Poet Ethanol, Robert White, Andy
Wicks, Andrew Randolph, Michael Carolan, Alan Anderson, Jamie Kitman, Jacob Kaul, Mickey Shay, Jay Berry, Chuck and Cindy Zimmerman, Dana
Fletcher, Ron Bengtson, everyone at Growth Energy, everyone at Renewable
Fuels Association, everyone at American Coalition of Ethanol, everyone at
South Dakota Farm Bureau, everyone at Fuel Freedom Foundation, everyone
at Urban Air Initiative, all the other associations, and of course my very great
friend and business partner Bob Gordon. Links to all of these people are provided in various places in the book, and in the bibliography at the end of the
book.
I also thank all my adversaries and the ethanol-haters. They play a pivotal role
in so many of my essays and this book. Without antagonists and their unknowledgeable, sometimes deceitful, often lame-brained, occasionally corrupt opinions and comments, the protagonists would not be able to shine so brightly.
You'll come to know the names of the individual villains and their organizations as you read this book and you'll be able to judge for yourself.
All of these people, by the way, comprise what I consider to be my peer-review
committee. I submit all of my papers to these people and willfully accept,
change, delete, add, and explain any information and issues that require alterations. I dutifully submit all my published criticisms of anti-ethanol commentary
to its authors, allowing them ample opportunity to respond and provide
