Mindy Lam Digital Catalogue - Flipbook - Page 40
The Leeds Jug is a study in white, with the two vessels that are the focus of the work surrounded at
their base by starkly white pearl onions on an off-white tablecloth. A brooch comprises Mindy’s counterpart inspiration work, with the colors of turquoise and dark and light pinks most prominent, as well
as whites, dark silvers, and a gold that is nearly identical in color to the frame in which the painting
is mounted. Look closely, and you’ll see that the whites in the brooch appear to be tiny pearlescent
crystals, which may serve as a tip of the hat to the pearl onions at the foot of the jug in the painting.
