The Kitchen Basics microcredential will provide those looking to start their career in the culinary industry
with the background to work in the food service 昀椀eld, while learning necessary skills such as basic culinary,
sanitation and safety, and beverage management.
Students who complete the Kitchen Basics microcredential earn nine college credit hours that may later be
transferred to one of Jefferson’s certi昀椀cate or degree programs.
Courses Required to Earn This Microcredential
Introduction to Culinary (CUL 102) – 3 credits
Nutrition (CUL 120) – 3 credits
Food and Beverage Management – 2 credits
Sanitation and Safety (CUL 130) – 1 credit
Many classes are available online, however, depending on course schedules, some in-person elements may be required.
