EARLY SCREENING PROGRAMS
Funding needed: $1 million
If you’ve never heard of chronic kidney disease, you’re
not alone. Awareness of chronic kidney disease
worldwide is very low – even in high-risk populations.
Early detection is crucial in managing the disease
and improving health outcomes. We are committed
to providing early screening and education for
kidney disease in Saskatchewan.
Through a partnership with St. Paul’s Hospital, the
Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Lac La Ronge
Indian Band, and one other community, we are
launching a pilot project to provide early screening
for kidney disease. This initiative includes screening
equipment, patient education sessions, and one-onone clinics. The data gathered from this program
will be used to inspire an enduring early diagnosis
system for at-risk communities in Saskatchewan.
Early screening for chronic
kidney disease can reduce
the incidence of end-stage
kidney disease by as much as
44%
By bringing these screening programs to rural
and remote areas, we aim to empower individuals
to identify their risk of kidney disease and take
preventive measures. With your help, we can
decrease the burden of chronic kidney disease
and kidney failure on at-risk communities and
our healthcare systems.
“Kidney health is really
important for our
community; there’s so
many people suffering
and it impacts each and
every one of us. This is an
opportunity for people
to get screened in a
friendly environment,
but it’s also building
capacity in the North
to provide health care.”
