THE SOCRA MISSION COULD NOT BE FULFILLED WITHOUT OUR
MEMBERS, AUTHORS, SPEAKERS AND INSTRUCTORS, EXHIBITORS AND
ADVERTISERS, SOCRA’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS, CHAPTER LEADERS,
AND ALL OF THE MILLIONS OF RESEARCH SUBJECTS WHO MAKE
CLINICAL TRIALS POSSIBLE.
Greetings Colleagues and Fellow Laborers in the Clinical Research Enterprise:
It is with tremendous gratitude and praise for the efforts of our members and stakeholders that I bring you
salutations and encouragement in what is now our second year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our clinical research
community has continued to support and manage clinical trials in all therapeutic areas. You, as a clinical
research community, have sustained clinical research excellence in the midst of doing your very best to protect
your research subjects, your patients, your colleagues, and your families from the many challenges of our
economic, social, and healthcare environments.
Additionally, I am inspired by your resilience as you have continued to participate in on-line clinical research
education, conferences, training, and certification during these difficult times. Many of you have invested your
time and expertise as speakers and workshop presenters by assuring that SOCRA continues the offerings made
available to our membership since its inception and have maintained them even through the pandemic.
Our national and international computer and Internet capabilities rose to the needs of our membership as video
conferencing technologies quickly replaced in-person meetings, conferences, and examinations. The companies
offering video conferencing responded in wonderful ways to us in order to minimize the effects of the pandemic
as they related to business activity, education, and personal communications.
I am so pleased that our SOCRA family has continued to grow professionally and elevate the clinical research
arena by participating in timely and relevant programming. We understand from our program evaluations that
our preparations and our delivery of online programs have continued to meet your needs.
We will continue to offer virtual programming and test administration while reintroducing in-person programs.
Our first (post pandemic) in-person clinical research site management program is scheduled for New Orleans in
November.
I hope you will be able to participate in our on-line workshops and conferences. Please also consider
recommending SOCRA clinical research professional certification to your colleagues. Certification testing is
being offered online in remote monitoring form as well as at test centers and selected in-person venues. I also
welcome your suggestions for new or additional content for our educational programs and conferences.
As always, thank you so much for everything you do for SOCRA and for all you do to promote clinical research
excellence!
Sincerely,
Quincy J. Byrdsong, EdD, CIP, CCRP
