SOCRA 2021 ANNUAL REPORT
EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS REPORT
THE SOCIETY OF CLINICAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATES CONTINUES TO
ENCOURAGE CLINICAL RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AMONG OUR MEMBERS
AND STAKEHOLDERS. WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN CLINICAL
RESEARCH AND IN SOCRA.
Dear Members and Stakeholders
We are pleased to report that SOCRA educational programming and certification activities have continued
to support our members and stakeholders throughout another year that has been difficult for everyone. We
transitioned to virtual education programs, conferences, and workshops very early in the pandemic and
moved to remote proctoring for our certification examinations very early in the travel and gathering
restrictions in order to protect and serve the clinical research community.
Our Board of Directors, program organizers, presenters, chapter leaders, and staff members have continued
to support the needs of clinical researchers in the areas of clinical research education, certification, and
professional development. Our mission is to promote quality clinical research to protect the welfare of
research participants and improve global health. In this time of pandemic, our members and stakeholders
have become recognized worldwide as the people who would be getting us through a very devastating
time. Clinical researchers are striving so diligently in such difficult circumstances to find cures and ways to
control the virus, to continue the very important prior research in all other therapeutic areas, and to build on
the knowledge and understanding of previous generations while innovating and discovering new solutions
to enhance and promote medical science.
We look to medical researchers to innovate, discover, test, and implement solutions to all of our ills. Everyone
reading this message has benefitted from clinical trials, whether we have been treated with a drug, a
medical device, a vaccine, or any other means of medical support. We trust and believe that the research
was administered in a scientific manner, that researchers cared about and protected those who participated
as clinical research subjects, and that the research findings actually proved that the products or procedures
are safe and effective.
Clinical researchers (all researchers) are constantly reminded of the significance of our work and our
contribution to the health and wellbeing of the population. We are constantly reminded that our work
benefits people close to us, possibly ourselves, and the greater general population. Therefore, we teach and
encourage our colleagues to always adhere to published regulations and guidance and assure that all of our
work is administered with great integrity so that everything we do is ethically and scientifically appropriate.
Our SOCRA conferences encourage discussion and conversation relating to all aspects of clinical research in
order to achieve clinical research excellence. Our faculty members are industry experts who diligently
develop significant and appropriate goals and learning objectives that are the foundations for our
conferences. Our program participants have the opportunity to comment on criteria that continually help to
improve the content and delivery of our programs. Our participants and members are encouraged to
recommend new and enhanced topics for future programming, to organize and develop new programs and
new content, and to volunteer as speakers for future programming. Our openness strengthens our content
and adds to the professional development of our members.
