Anti-Human Trafficking Program11OUR COLLABORATIVEAPPROACH:HUMAN TRAFFICKINGIN CENTRAL OHIOThe Salvation Army is honored to serveas theCoalition Manager for the Central Ohio Reach andRestore Coalition,a network of 120 organizationsworking together to raise awareness and build a strongnetwork of services for trafficking survivors.Human trafficking is compelled exploitation incommercial sex or forced labor for the financial gainof the trafficker. Ohio ranks 5th in the number ofhotline calls placed to the National Human TraffickingHotline. In Central Ohio, men, women, and childrenare trafficked in numerous sex industry venues suchas the streets, hotels, brothels, massage businesses,and private homes, and in labor industries suchas agriculture, factories, hospitality, construction,domestic servitude, and cleaning services.Each year, The Salvation Armyconducts over 10 focus groups withsurvivors to gain insight into effectiveprogram design and delivery.OUR IMPACT IN 2021:• We assisted 577 human trafficking survivors in exiting their exploitation and supporting theirindividual paths toward healing, recovery,and stability.• We had 618 street outreach encounters with women exploited in commercial sex on the streetsof Columbus.• We provided hotline response for a14 county areain Central Ohio.• Through our program, 87% of survivors obtainedor maintained housing and 100% achieved safety.Because Need Knows No Season12
