WHAT’S NEXT...
Now that I have started the second half of my
college career, where I purely focus on art, I have
added so much to my skill sets, like screen printing, adobe photoshop, illustrator, and other digital
tools. I’ve also been exposed to various types of
art. Like in middle school, I’ve learned how much
bigger the art world is by taking an academic
route.
In the spring of 2023, I will be graduating, and
at this point of my life, in Spring 2022, I have no
idea what lies in store for me. I want to find a career in illustration. I’ve learned from previous
assignments how much I enjoy illustrating, and it
would be a dream come true to create an official
New Yorker magazine cover. However, I’ve always
been fond of painting, and to spend long hours
every day standing at an easel with a paintbrush
in my hand, focusing on creating a masterpiece
is my absolute dream. As a child, I have dreamt
about the day when my dream becomes a reality,
and I still do. Even though I currently have other
areas in my life that need my focus, my time in
class has been a taste of my dream, and I have
cherished every second I get.

I often feel very sentimental about parts of my life that
have passed, so I try my best to live in the moment. The
first day I attended classes at WSU in the fall of 2021, I remember smiling at everything. When I sat in my world art
history class, I looked around and felt honored to be able to
study my passion, walking through the hallways and seeing
my classmate’s artwork hung on the walls-even just seeing
my work knowing others would walk by feeling inspired just
like I have. This feeling of joy hasn’t gone away, and I don’t
think it ever will because art has always given me meaning
in life.
