Fabricator Sewing Machine in the Country
Cow Designs studio and workshop.
Q. What made you choose the Fabricator for your industrial machine? What in
particular did you like about the machine? Was there any special feature that drew
you to it?
I had been wanting to purchase an industrial machine for about six months
but I could never 昀椀nd one that appealed to me. I wanted a machine that had
plenty of power, could stitch slowly for my leatherwork but also be suitable for
sewing lighter materials such as cotton. This drew me to the Fabricator as I
heard that it was a versatile machine. I particularly liked the powerful motor
that wouldn’t struggle with many layers of heavy materials, even at slow
speeds. When sewing leather, the look of stitching is very important, so I
like to take my time and the Fabricator seemed perfect for this. Also, the
look of the machine was important to me.
Q. You’ve had your Fabricator for almost two years now. How is it
performing for you? Are you still happy with your choice?
I’m very happy with my choice. It’s always a pleasure to use the
machine. I’ve enjoyed trying out a variety of materials including
leather, vinyl, cotton, heavy canvas and cork. Since I know
I can depend on my Fabricator, it gives me the con昀椀dence
to try new materials. I recently tried using Tex 135, a very
thick thread, for sewing a leather bag and, with some
adjustments to tension, the machine worked as great as
expected. Any time I’ve thought there’s a problem with
the machine, it’s always been user error and I’ve been
able to 昀椀gure out what I did wrong quickly and easily
using the machine manual. Adding the Fabricator to
our sewing room has proved to be a good decision
and it’s a very reliable workhorse.
Q. Has the Fabricator improved your
productivity or process in any way?
