CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
9
The Salvation Army learning centers and day camps for children provide a safe and enriching environment where
children can be inspired, learn, and thrive.
Our trained staff and counselors serve as mentors and provide constant attention, and compassion, to ensure that
children in Central Ohio have a positive outlet for their talent and creativity, helping them to become better students
and members of our community.
NEIGHBORHOOD DAY CAMPS
Learning and mentoring should not stop with summer break. Every year, The Salvation Army in Central Ohio holds
summer-long enrichment “day camps” located in Columbus neighborhoods where we are needed most.
Day camp not only helps working parents by providing a safe, nurturing environment for their school-aged children
during the summer, but also keeps students actively engaged in studies that they may struggle with during the
academic year, giving a “jump start” to those in need of extra academic assistance.
Children build their confidence by trying new activities: For example, learning to play musical instruments helps kids
with math, memory retention, coordination, and much more.
Children who attend camp meet new friends, create lasting relationships, and make life-long memories to take home
and remember throughout the year.
