Plant City Guide 2024 - Magazine - Page 8
As a 6th generation Plant City resident, my family has been here for each of the
100 years of the Chamber of Commerce. There is no better place to live. The smalltown charm shines through even with growth and that is why generations 7 & 8
also call Plant City home.
Agriculture has always been the backbone of Plant City and still continues to be
its largest economic driver. So in other words, don’t talk about the dust, tractors,
animals and trucks with food in your mouth.
As you can see from the 100-year history of the Chamber, there was always an
advocacy arm to support our businesses as well as the community. In 100 years,
our city has grown from 3,800 residents to 39,000 and continues to see those
numbers rise.
Business is the key to a strong community. There will need to be goods and
services for the growing number of residents. Family owned restaurants, bars,
boutiques, salons, attorneys, cpas.. you get the picture, and Plant City has them
all. Our downtown is a work in progress but headed in the right direction. The
Plant City Chamber, for 100 years, has been here to support our businesses and
community and are looking forward to the next 100 years.
