Since 1930, the Florida Strawberry Festival
has been an annual event that celebrates
the bountiful harvest of strawberries in
Plant City. The festival was originally
organized by the Plant City Lions Club
and ran for 11 years until it was halted by
World War II in 1941. It remained closed
until 1947 when the American Legion
Post #26 helped reactivate the festival.
Since then, many civic organizations
have participated in making it one of the
best festivals in the nation.
Every spring, people from all over the
world come to the Strawberry Festival
to experience a wide range of exhibits
related to agriculture, commerce, industry,
livestock, 昀椀ne arts, horticulture, and
crafts. The festival showcases various
aspects of American life through social
events, contests, youth developmental
programs, top-tier entertainment, and
parades featuring magni昀椀cent 昀氀oats
and high-stepping marching bands.
The Florida Strawberry Festival is a symbol
of American tradition, reminding us of
a time when fairs and festivals served
to unite communities in celebration of
their harvests. The festival has gained
immense popularity over the years due
to its commitment to preserving this
heritage.
