PEACEPLAYERS
RECEIVES THE MANNIE JACKSON
HUMAN SPIRIT AWARD
On August 11, PeacePlayers United States Co-Executive Director, Sally
Nnamani took the stage at the Naismith National Basketball Association
(NBA) Hall of Fame Ceremony to receive the Mannie Jackson Human
Spirit Award on behalf of our global PeacePlayers movement. The
annual award, which honors
those who use basketball to
serve humanity and the
greater good, goes to one
exceptional basketball
player or organization
“WE’VE

Ray Allen and

that has gone above
have used the power of
basketball to uplift and
transform. In her acceptance
speech, Sally spoke of
PeacePlayers’ evolution into an organization that not only strives for
peace, but is also intentional about what that peace looks like:
“Working across five continents, and 75,000 young people reached,
we’ve bridged divides, we’ve developed leaders and we’ve changed the
perceptions that we have of one another. Over time, that vision has
evolved. Today, we are using the game of basketball – this global game
of ours – to develop the next generation of peace builders and leaders,
who will create communities where we don’t just live together – we
thrive together.”
While we are grateful and honored for every one of the dozens of
accolades we have received over the years, the Naismith NBA Hall of
Fame is in a league of its own. The award is further proof that what
we’re doing is making a difference, and people are noticing. We’re glad to
add this award to the many things that our youth and team
can be proud of.
