The New York City Police Foundation has a long history
Looking back, the New York City Police Foundation
of supporting the NYPD’s work with the community to
provided funding in 2003 for the NYPD’s Real Time
Crime Center (RTCC) at One Police Plaza, which
a first-rate citywide communications
system that provided detectives, field investigators,
and officers with access to timely, accurate and
thorough information. Twenty years later, the Police
Foundation continued its support of the RTCC with
solve crimes through Crime Stoppers and Operation
established
Gun Stop. For over 40 years, NYPD Detectives have
received crime-solving tips from anonymous callers to
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, helping to solve more
than 1,600+ murders and attempted murders, as well
as nearly 2,400 robberies. Since the program began,
the dedication of a new RTCC Emergency Mobile
the Police Foundation has coordinated awareness
Response Van in November 2023, which replaced and
expanded upon the capabilities of the original vehicle
that was first unveiled in 2005. These tools play crucial
roles in improving the NYPD’s access to information
needed to deploy its resources to respond to critical
incidents, including officer involved shootings, terrorist
attacks, active shooter situations, and crime scenes
at which the immediate assistance of an analyst is
required onsite.

And since its launch in 2001, Operation Gun Stop has
continued to remove deadly firearms from the streets
of New York City and has led to the arrest of thousands
of criminals, thanks to tips at 1-866-GUN-STOP.
Last year, the Police Foundation donated a new Crime
Stoppers truck, which travels to the scene of a crime
and showcases video footage, or photographs of
those wanted in connection with a crime, on large
external LED displays. This new equipment helps to
further support the NYPD detectives in their efforts to
solve crimes throughout the city.
The NYPD is on the front line when it comes to
protecting New York City from the threat of terrorism.
For over 20 years, the Police Foundation has funded
the NYPD’s International/Domestic Liaison Program,
Real Time Crime Center Emergency Mobile Response Van (RTCC) dedicated in memory of fallen NYPD hero, Detective Joseph Paolillo, pictured here
