Volunteer Spotlight
More than 200 people actively volunteer with Messiah Lifeways. These volunteers
are vital partners in advancing our mission of “enhancing the lives of older adults
with Christ-like love” every day. We truly cannot do what we do without their
support. In April, we spotlighted two volunteers in recognition of Volunteer
Recognition Month: Bob Castallo and Ann Judge.
Bob has logged more than 2,000 hours of service
since he began volunteering with Messiah Lifeways
about eight years ago, as a way of giving back to the
place that had cared for his mother in the last years
of her life. Not only does he have the opportunity
to interact with residents and listen to stories from
their lives, but he has also discovered a sense of
community among the residents and team members
that nurtures his own sense of meaning and purpose.
Ann jumped into volunteering at Messiah Lifeways
at the invitation of a friend. Upon retirement,
Ann was seeking new ways to foster purpose and
meaning in a new season of life. She uses her energy
and passion to contribute creatively through the
Quilt Guild, a philanthropic arm of the Messiah
Village Auxiliary that creates and sells hand-made
quilts. All proceeds of the Quilt Guild’s sales bene昀椀ts
the Endowment Fund for Benevolent Care. In Fiscal
Year 2022, the Quilt Guild contributed a total of
$11,270 to the Endowment Fund.
